Hi,
I was hoping for some help with the attached document. I am not completely following the purpose of this birth record. Seems like in house interview to confirm a birth date, but I am getting lost with who is descendant of whom.
Thank you for any help,
Bruce

Re: Needing some help with translation of document
Hi Bruce
Since no one else is attempting this record, I’ll give it a try.
This record is for Angela Ruggeri who was married to Emilio Piccioni. The revision is taking place in the house of Vito Ruggeri, an invalid. He was married to a woman by the name of Angela Sermarini, who was a native of the town of San Gregorio ( There are many towns with this name, so I can’t say specifically which town of San Gregorio). Vito Ruggeri and his wife Angela Sermarini have a daughter named Carmina Ruggeri, married to a Vincenzo Piccinini, the son of Filippo Piccinini.
The official especially asked Vito to state the time period of the birth of his sister, Angela or Angela Maria, wife of Emilio (the word germana is used instead of the word sorella for sister. This specifically means that they had the same parents who were Marcantonio Ruggeri, deceased, and Carmina Grassi, the daughter of deceased Vincenzo Grassi.
Vito declared that the time period when his sister Angela Ruggeri was born coincides with the female of unknown parentage listed in the statistics (census) of the year 1814 and, from the statistics of 1814, emerges that the woman listed in that census was born on March 30, 1792.
My understanding is that this redaction was done in the absence of Vito being able to produce the godfather and godmother who had served at Angela’s baptism back in 1792, and also without him being able to produce any other woman who could have been listed in the 1814 census as the woman of unknown parentage who had been born in the same time frame as his sister Angela.
Vito and his daughter Carmina were both illiterate and signed the document below with a sign of the cross.
Hope this at least helps with sorting out the names in the record.
