I'm having a very difficult time locating my great-great grandfather's immigration paperwork. I'm hoping to find this so I can possibly confirm more details about his life.
Here is what I know:
Nicholas Zavoyski
Born in Austria(?) in 1863
Died in Ansonia, Connecticut Oct 17, 1938
Immigrated between 1880-1883 (per census records)
Married Julia Tuz ~1896
Lived in Ansonia/Seymour Connecticut
Parishioner at Three Saints Orthodox Church in Ansonia, Connecticut
Had 9 children, all born in Ansonia, Connecticut
I have a lead that suggests Nicholas was from the Lemko culture. Sadly I know nothing about his parents or extended family, except that he had a cousin Nicholas who lived with him per the 1910 census.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Help with Immigration Record (Austria)
I no found the arrival, but the surname spelling appearing ZAWISKI on 1900 census, and I believe right… in the family on 1900 census lived also another person, with same name, cousin of your ancestor…
I believe that a possible place could be Zawadka Rymanowska, Galizien, Austria ( currently in Poland) or near…

Re: Help with Immigration Record (Austria)
Good morning. Thank you, I have this census record in my records. The last name is spelt different almost every time, from Zavoyski, Zawoyski, Zawiski and today it's spelt Savoyski. I'm just not sure how to bridge the gap between American and international records.
I did recently discover his father's name is Andrew and mother is Eva (last name listed as unobtainable on death record).

Re: Help with Immigration Record (Austria)
Yikes I forgot about this topic!
It's very possible this is him, as I suspect his name was not spelt "Nicholas" in his home country. I've assumed he was married around 1896 as the 1930 census shows the age he was married at 32. This is assuming my other records are correct in him being born in 1864, but it's very possible the dates are fudged a bit. I visited Ansonia Town Hall in Connecticut (where he settled after immigrating) and the clerk didn't find a marriage record for this year. She was kindly doing free research for me, so I didn't pester her to search other years.
I'm currently working on finding his town of birth under the assumption he is from the Lemko culture as was his wife, Julianna Tuz. It was recently discovered with some very kind help that she was most likely born in Bartne, Poland. The search continues!
