Asaro/Assaro and Saverino (names/DOBs inside)

Hello,

I am embarking on proving dual citizenship. The 1930 census shows my great-grandfather was still an alien when my grandmother was born in the US. My father was born after 1948. I am starting the process by trying to get my greatgrandparents birth certificates and wedding certificate.

Their names are:

Anthony (may be Antonio?) Assaro (or Asaro). In early life he wrote Assaro and later the 2nd s was dropped. He was born Nov 12 1881 in Sicily. He died in 1976. He came over around 1906. His parents were Louis and Mary. We think he had a brother named Joseph.

My great-grandmother's name is Josephine Savarino born Jan 23, 1883 she came over around 1912. She died in 1956. Her parents were Philip and Mary J Savarino. We think she had a brother named Dominic.

Josephine was 15 and Anthony was 18 when they were married in Sicily.

It is hard to say where your ancestor came from, the area could be some commune in Trapani province as a well Agrigento province...

Antonino Asaro, son of Luigi Asaro and Maria Marino (possibly Vincenza Maria Marino) was born the 12 November 1881 in Cianciana, then in the province of Girgenti (nowadays is called Agrigento).
