hello!
i am travelling to italy next week and just decided to try to find my grandfather's family while there. he immigrated alone in 1910.
i looked up his ship records in ellisisland.com and found he listed his town as casalbone, which doesnt appear to exist anymore
any suggestions on where to find any relations? he sailed out of naples and settled in NYC.
thanks for any leads!

Re: looking for graziano nigro family in casalbone
heres the first manifest he is on (it appears he came twice, 1905 and 1910) he is #26.
http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipm ... 2425090507
here is the second, he is # 25:
http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipm ... 1284060025
i think you need to be a member of ellisisland.org to get to it, but its a free registration. if the link doesnt work its under graziano nigro, he is the only one.
i can attach it if you need, i just need to figure out how.
thanks so much!

Already registered with Ellis...........just easier to have a link provided instead of searching.......
I am not an expert on place names in Italy, however with the manifest provided one of our Italian residents can see if perhaps this is a transcription error......many times it is.........

Re: looking for graziano nigro family in casalbone
Hi Lisa,
I am familiar with the town of Casalbore since my mother was born there. I have visited there 5 times in the last 10-15 years. In fact I have been in contact with a Nigro in the U.S. for several years now. They spell their name Nagro now. If I can be of any help let me know.

WOW
thank you all so much!
yes andy, i would love some help. as far as i know we do not know of nagro family members, but if you could put me in touch with the nagros that you know, i may be able to ask them some questions.
also, would it be possible to ask your mother if she knows any of the nigros there, and if anyone knows of a graziano nigro who left there alone in 1905-1910? my dad is now 77 and would love to find cousins who might still be there. i do not speak italian so cannot call the nigros listed in suanjs post.
you are all so wonderful!!

Hi Lisa,
My mother was very young when she left Casalbore and has no knowledge of anyone other than relatives. I have sent an E-Mail to the Nagro I know, but have not received a response yet.
Casalbore is a small town of approx. 2000 Inhabitants. There is no lodging there with the exception of 2-3 Agroturismo which may be difficult to reserve at this late date. Benevento, about 1/2 hr.'s drive, has many Hotels.
