Cesar,
I searched so much and no other place or repository or database where to search… I suspect that Domenico was no the biological son … because your ancestor, Domenico Gammaro, no Birth in Italy in the place where we searched… so something don't match.… here on the forum we no reply because we cannot add nothing more than already said and helped.. it is a brick wall.. Maybe Domenico was born out of marriage, or was adopted, or he was a nephew, who know… but abt the parents the Births and marriage is ok, but on Domenico nothing.. so something don't match.. also if the family moved in other place, who know where? I know just that that in the database of cosenza archive, abt enlistment leverage, no Domenico is found… the list was provided from the registrars of communes to military districts… so for exemple: in all communes of cosenza province, the names of males born on 1878 was sent to military discrict for leverage call… it was no important if someone went in foreign country, because the name of a man that did not respond to the draft was the subject of a subsequent investigation.. and if resulting in foreign country obviously was crossed.. but in the database must be.. Cosenza archive have a great database abt that.. and I searched also by various surname spelling …
because in entering data into the database sometimes there are erroneous spells given the difficulty in reading the handwriting of the time, and even trying with different spelling results in something. So frankly, I personally don't know how to help you yet. the only thing I think is that it wasn't their biological child …
best regards,
suanj

Re: Gammaro family
Hi suanj,
Thank you a lot for your input.
This is the information I was referring to in my previous post.
This one is from the Cúria (page 1 and 2)
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... &cat=42933
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... &cat=42933
It reads "On may 17th,1902, on this church... after being proclaimed and justification... in my presence... were received in matrimony... Domingos (Domenico) Gennaro (Gammaro), 26 years old, and Rosa Mulia (Muglia)... 15 years old... they are part of this comunity and from Italy, he is legitimate son of already dead Salvador Gennaro (Gammaro) and Carolina Samaritana (Sammarco). She is legitimate son of Miguel Mulia (Muglia) and Luisa Giglio..."
This one is from the church itself
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=245954
Same info sort of and it says he is legitimate son of Carolina and Salvador.
Other official documents have the name of his father and a few do mention Carolina as well, like in my grandfather sister birth cert mention Carolina as being her grandmother.
So I do believe he was legitimate son of this couple. Or lets say I want to believe that he was.
But they were married in 1879, as per this document he would be born in around 1876? in the immigration document he is 10 and document is from 1888, so that would be born around 1878? there are differences.
the range goes from 1876 to 1880-1882 maybe?
Is it worth trying to locate Carolina's death? maybe it will point out to Domenico's birth maybe? I know you tried to locate her death in San Lucido already right - not sure if we were being specific about the range from 1896 to 1902?
I know she was alive in 1896 because she went to inform her husband have died in Brazil and was in the San Lucido commune, and as per the marriage of Domenico in 1902 it says she was dead.
I won't give up as this is my only chance of my Italian citizenship, and at the same time I'm so close I'm so far.
Regards,
Cesar

Re: Gammaro family
I believe that Salvatore and Carolina don't had own children, I don't found.. and after 9 years of marriage maybe raised some nephew or child of someone related to family...
I found just a Giovanni GAMMARO born on 1877 son of Raffaela Gammaro, single, and unknown father… https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2043464
I don't have more ideas… I understand that you referring to brasilian documents, but in Italy especially in the database of cosenza archive, abt leverage names, but not results…
I have exhausted every resource. It's not found.
Best regards,

Hi suanj,
Thanks for your valuable input.
I'm also intetested to find info about Maria Carolina death between 1896 and 1902? Is there any place I can look at for that info besides San Lucido civil archives in Family Search?

Cesar

Re: Gammaro family
Cesar,
a resident who dies in another town, his death certificate is sent for transcription to the municipality of residence. That is San Lucido. If he is not in San Lucido, it means he had transferred her residence to another place.
However in San Lucido it is worth looking after 1902, because we don't know where she died, and communications were not like today, so it took time, and we hope you find it. If you don't find what can I tell you? I have no idea where she died.

suanj,
Last question: How can I find out if a family (or person) transferred residence to another place? Is this information available?

Re: Gammaro family
Cesar here of San Lucido. Normally the "Registri di cittadinanza" report more often information of people who transferred their residence from a municipality to this one. Sometimes even vice versa. Provided that people informed the municipality. But how many left without informing ...!
