Help with translation of birth record for twin boys, #'s 22 and 23.

Post by jrbak »

Good Afternoon,
I have located the birth records of my great grandfather Luigi Negri and Enrichetta Pastore, my great grandmother's twin boys Abele and Abramo Negri. I need assisstance with the translation of these two documents; also does it say who would have been born first? Thank you so much!!

Birth No 22: Abele Negri, son of Luigi and Enrichetta Pastore, b. 6 August 1899

Piverone: 8 August 1899

Appearing before the official was Luigi Negri, 44 yo, Falegname, living in Piverone. He reported that at 1.15 pm, on 6 of the current month, in the house in Piverone Via Valle, No 292, from Enrichetta Pastore, his wife, living with him, was born a baby boy who he presented and named Abele.

This little guy was the first born, as noted at the base of the record. Sometimes the order of birth is noted under each child's name, in the margin. (The time born is always another indication. His brother was born fifteen minutes later.... Watch this space, I'll type Abramo's birth record next.)

Edit to Add:

Here's his little brother:

Birth No 23: Abramo Negri, son of Luigi and of Enrichetta Pastore, b. 6 August 1899

Piverone: 8 August 1899

Appearing was Luigi Negri, 44 yo, Falegname, living Piverone, who reported that at 1.30 pm on 6 of the current month, in the house in Piverone Via Valle, No 292, from Enrichetta Pastore, his wife, living with him, was born a baby boy, who he presented and named Abramo.

Again there is mention at the base of the record that Abramo was the second born.

What beautiful biblical names these children have!

Dear Angela,
Thank you once again for the translation of the birth records for my family. It must have been a joy to have twin boys. They were in fact brought up in a very strong Christian family so that is no doubt why the Christian names for them. I thought you might enjoy hearing this but falegname (carpenter/woodworker) is what my brother does for a living also and in fact he looks just like his great grandfather Luigi. I had the brown hair and eyes and he had the blond hair, blue eyes. Some things are passed down.
Thanks again,

You are very welcome Jefferie. Interesting to hear about your brother sharing both Luigi's looks and occupation. It's often the way - adults who were adopted as children, who later find their birth parents, often find that they have the same interests, passions, and of course looks, as their parents and grandparents.

Best to you.
Angela
