I've been looking for the birth record of my second great-grandfather and I believe I found it, hoping someone might be able to help translate so I can confirm if it is in fact him.

Here's what I know...

Vito Santo De Filippis
Born: Approximately 1866 in Rutigliano, Puglia

Married to Domenica Lucente
Children: Giovanni, Carmela & Giovanna De Filippis

This child was born 30 March 1864 to Giangrazio Defilippis, 56, farmer, Son of deceased Nicola; and to Laura Orlando, 46, his wife. Child was named Vito Sante.
He was baptized the same day.

Yes, the annotation is for marriage on 12 December 1889 to Domenica Lucente. Marty has posted the marriage record above.

Groom: Vito Sante Defilippis, 25, farmer born in Rutigliano, residing said town, son of deceased Giangrazio, and of deceased Laura Orlando, both residents of Rutigliano in their lifetimes.
Bride: Domenica Lucente, 19, housewife born in Rutigliano, residing said town, daughter of Vito, residing in Rutigliano, and of Maria Iaffaldano, residing in this town.
Publication of banns was on 24 November and 1 December.
The parents of the bride were present to give their consent.

Any chance you can assist me with a translation so I can try to determine which is correct? Can you let me know how you verified so I can try to figure it out on my own in the future? Record 155 - I believe this is the one I'm looking for as it references a Vito Santo. This one may be him. Vito Sante is age 22 (in 1886 the date of the record). Unfortunately we only have the name of the second wife - not Vito Sante's mother. You will need to find the second marriage to verify.http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... wsIndex=0
