Poland - Lawrence Dejon/Deion and Marianna Stanoszek

Post by Amansolillo »

Hello, I am seeking information on Lawrence Deion/Dejon (1863) and his wife Maria/Marianna Stanoszek (1866). They may have come from either Sanniki or Czyzew in Masovian Voivodeship. In 1903, Lawrence immigrated to the United States with two of his children, Victoria (1888) and Henry (1889), and settled in Rhode Island. His wife Marianna and his remaining children, Alexandra (1892), Joseph (1901), and Suzanne (1903), later joined them in the United States. Lawrence died on 3 March 1920. His death record states that he was the son of Peter and Mary. Marianna died on 22 June 1917. Her death record only lists her mother, Josephine (no last name listed). I have been trying to find information on Lawrence and Marianna's parents, but with no avail. I have noticed some records use the German variant of names (Lawrence = Lorenz, Henry = Heinrich) instead of the proper Polish forms (Wawrzyniec, Henryk), which makes me wonder if they lived in Germany at some point. I couldn't find any good Polish genealogy forums and know absolutely nothing about Polish genealogy, so I was hoping that someone here might try giving this a crack.

There is really not a good single resources for Poland in my opinion. The Polish Genealogy Group on Facebook has been helpful to me

Here is also a list of other sites. I did some quick searches for the villages and surnames, but limited records are available on line.

There are number of databases for individual regions such as the following: The most important thing is knowing the village
