Death No 10: Pietro Cerami

Petralia Soprana: 18 January 1852

Maestro Pietro Cerami, 71 yo, falegname, husband of Maria Anna di Giglia, died on 17 January 1852, 11 pm, in this town. He was the son of the deceased Maestro Francesco (Cerami) and of the deceased Marianna Genduso.

(It says that one of the declarants of the death, i.e. Don Gandolfi Bongiorno, 49 yo, possidente, living in the town, was a relative (parente) of the deceased.)

Thank you very much, Angela. Both Pietro and his father were "Masters" but I did not see any profession listed. However, I think the word falegname that you listed here means carpenter. Correct? Was his father also a carpenter?

Also, if I understood where he was born, it was the "same" commune, Petralia Soprano.

Finally, on their son's death record (not shown) his wife's surname is di Figlia. Are you sure it is Giglia?

It just gives Pietro's profession, which was a falegname (joiner/carpenter). It doesn't mention Francesco's.

Pietro was born "this town" (questo comune) - so yes, born Petralia Soprano.

I think you are right, Maria Anna's surname does look more like di Figlia, now that I compare the "F's" in the record.
