I am helping a friend with her son's Paternal Italian genealogy.
His grandfather
Charlie Chiado born in Colorado, then at about age 9 he was adopted into the James Ward Family in Salt Lake City, Utah.
We don't really know if Chiado is Charlie's surname. Because Pietro Chiado listed in the Salt Lake City 1920 census died in 190. Anna Rosa Chiado a sister was born in 1906 and Charlie is listed as 1 in the 1910 Upper Bingham, Utah Census and Anna Rosa Chiado age 4.
We are trying to find Charlie's Birth Certificate in Colorado and then his Father's name and Surname. It could be Pietro Chiado, but we don't know.
we have not located a marriage records.
We don't know where Charlie's birth date came from either.
The death record listed a Charlie Ward exists.
Here is what we know.
Charlie Chiado

And had a child named

Charlie Chiado age 1 in the Upper Bingham , Salt Lake City Census says he was born in Colorado.
Catterina had a nervous breakdown was committed to a state hospital and could not take care of her children. After her death, the two children were adopted out in St Annes Orphanage of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Both Anna Rosa Chiado and charlie were adopted into the Ward family. They show up as Wards in the 1920 Rock Springs, Wyoming Census.
Any Information would be greatly appreciated,

Do you have this birth act for Maria Giulia Cattarina Aimonetto?

Father: Antonio Aimonetto, age 47, mason. He was the son of deceased Marco Aimonetto and deceased Maria Domenica Giachino.
Mother: Maria Domenica Aimonetto, 44, his wife, daughter of deceased Antonio.
Child was given the name Maria Giulia Cattarina Aimonetto.

It is possible that Pietro's surname is CIARDO (pronounced with "ch") a name found throughout Torino.

Re: Charlie Chiado
This is a great find. I appreciate seeing the actual document that clears up the spelling of Ciardo. By the time Charlie got married the spelling had been changed to include the Ch . ..
I did find that Charlie listed his birth place as Salt Lake City, Utah when he was 32 in 1940 in the draft registration.
At the time of his death , his birth place as Sunny Side, Utah.
The 1910 Census record listed his birth in Colorado.
We are also looking for the emigration record for Pietro Ciardo

Re: Charlie Chiado
Hi,
living not far from there, I can assure that "Chiadò" (with an accent on the last letter and very often being part of a doubele surname, i.e. "Chiadò Caponet", "Chiadò Cutin", Chiadò Piat", etc.) is definitely a typical surname for Corio Canavese and the immediately surrounding area.
Hope this helps,
Maurizio

I looked in the familysearch.org online Corio records. Record #183 is for a Pietro Chiado-Cutin, born Oct 8 1871. Father Domenico, age 43 (son of deceased Giovanni). Mother Anna Bajma Pecit, age 37 (daughter of Giuseppe).
