Need info on Great-Grandparents G. Chirillo and T. Pascuzzi.

Post by missjessie »

My Great-Grandparents were Guiseppe Chirillo and Theresa Pascuzzi. I don't know much about my Great-Grandmother's family because I never had a chance to ask my Gram. My Great-Grandpa's parents were Pavolo Chirillo and Clara Viella. He was born in 1884.

Guiseppe Chirillo and Theresa Pascuzzi' daughter Yolanda was my grandma. I want to know any information about them. If anyone could help. I'd appreciate it very much. :D

jcsm. Yes! that is the family. I asked my mother and she said that is absolutely the family. But, She said her great Uncle' name was Artie. Could that possibly be a nickname for Arganto. It's all the names she knows of in my grandmother's family. My Great-Grandmother Theresa also had a sister named Oresta. Do you have any more information.

Also, My Great-Grandpa I know was born in Gizzeria, Calabria. I'm pretty sure the year was 1884.

This is Gezzeria civil record office, where you can write a request, only in italian, add to your request a photocopy of your ID + envelope + international reply coupon; if you request a birth certificate, you are going to know his right date of birth + the parents names of Giuseppe Chirillo

Comune
Ufficio di Stato Civile
Via Albania
88040 Gizzeria
(CZ)
Italy

Glad it's the right family. Wonder where Theresa's husband is? And when & where her father died?

So far, that's all I have found, but will keep looking. Haven't found a ship manifest that matches, but I'm not very good at finding them. Other members are, so hopefully one will come along & have a look see!

Just guessing but Artie seems like good possible nickname for Arganto.

Riccardo has provided address for the town's civil records office, when writing for gr. granfather's birth act, also ask about Teresa's. And try a get birth records on Paul & Yolanda.

Keep us poted & we'll do the same if more is found.

The LDS (Mormans) have filmed the civil records for Gizzeria, nut only for 1809-1860. Once you get Giuseppe's & Paulina's birth acts from the comune, you wil have their parents' names & ages & will be able to trace the families through the films.

Here is a link to the available films.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... ato+civile++

Here is a link to locate your local LDS-Family History Center.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... et_fhc.asp

Films are 5.50/5.75 each and you rent them for 4-6 weeks. The center will have the equipment to view the films & make copies.

Hope this helps.

Suanj,

Have looked for Giuseppe Chirillo & Teresa Pascuzzi on Ellis Island, but no matches, Thinking they may have come through port of Philadelphia. According to census Teresa immigrated 1902.

Thanks for your help.
