Help Deciphering Profession in Marriage Act?

Hello. I'm trying to figure out the profession of Giuseppe Asta in his 1883 marriage act to Giovanna Cutrona. It looks like it states "cavaiolo" after his age, but I can't figure out what that means. Any help?

I'm reading "cavaiolo" also, I'm pretty sure it is another name for "quarryman" or "quarrier".

Ah, that makes sense, in future acts he is written as a stone-splitter so very similar. Thank you!

By any chance, I'm also struggling with the profession of his father, Gaetano Asta, on his birth certificate. It reads something like "illacouale." I also believe it says they are living at "Strada Chiesa Madre" and Chiesa Madre is one of the churches in the town. Does that mean they were living on the same street as the church or living in the church? Appreciate if you have any insight into that one, as well!

The father was a "Manovale" i.e. a Construction Worker.

I found a definition for a cavaiolo as well. "A worker employed in stone and marble quarries" - so yes, a quarrier.

Edit to Add: Living in the Street, not in the church - but yes the street would be named after the church on which it, the church, stands.

Got it, yes, makes sense! Also, can you decipher what Giuseppe's profession is in the birth act of his daughter Giovanna Asta? The handwriting in these is not doing me any favors.

I was reading "spazzapietre" but I wasn't sure exactly what it meant. I think it means stone breaker, or stone sweeper? Anyways, something to do with stones.

Edit to Add: Actually I think that mmogno is correct with the spelling it is "spezzapietre", and it does mean to break stones. I'm sure I have heard the word "spezza" before meaning "break".
