April 11, 1774
Groom: Magistro (maestro-title) Giuseppe of this town (never before married); I don't see a surname for him
Bride: Francesca Vetrano, never before married, legitimate and natural daughter of Santo Vetrano and Margherita de Luca, married couple of this town.
There were no detected impediments to the marriage.
Witnesses were: Don* (*title) Simone Losti and Don* (*title) Bernardo Cammarata

Thanks so much. Hope you are doing well Erudita and keeping safe. What does Magistro title mean? Is it odd for his surname and the names of his parents not to be listed?

It's not an abbreviation for a title in this record. Sorry I misread that earlier. It is an abbreviation for the word for "matrimony," as I see this same abbreviation in the other records on this page. I honestly don't know why the groom's surname is not given. I was going to see if there is an index for this record, but maybe you've already looked for that. It's not, however, odd for the parents' names to not be given in church marriage records. I've seen this many times. I just wonder why, in this case the bride's parents are named, yet his are not, but I don't want to jump to an erroneous conclusion concerning this. Maybe it was simply a clerical error.

Actually, the groom's surname is omitted in the index too (image 21 of 287, folio 121).

We're doing fine so far. Thanks for asking. Hope you and your family are well too.

We are hanging in there. Thanks. I have a baptismal of their daughter and her marriage record. If I am reading this correctly it states Giuseppe's last name was Santoro. What do you think?

Thanks,
M

In the first link, the surname Santoro is clear but in the second record, and even in the index for that record, I don't see the letter t in the surname.
