1948 case eligibility

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

1948 case eligibility

Post by maston86 »

Hi there, I am hoping for some advice relating to my own quest for dual citizenship!!

Here is a summary of my lineage:

My great grandparents were both born in Italy and moved to the UK in 1914. My great grandmother gave birth to my grandmother in 1919 in the UK. (One important side note is that my great grandFATHER remained an Italian citizen until November 29th 1947, after which he was a naturalised British subject. My great grandmother remained an Italian subject)

My grandmother then married a British subject in 1940 and gave birth to my father on the 24th of November 1947. Finally my father married in 1979, and I was born in Jan 1986.

Is there a chance I can claim Italian citizenship by descent through a 1948 case??

I would be keen to hear your responses!

Kind regards,
Matt
