September 30, 1893, town hall at Giuliano Teatino, appeared Giovanni Paolini, age 36, farmer, domiciled in this comune, who declared that at 5:20 a.m. on September 29, 1893 in his home at #41 Via San Rocco, a male child was born from his union with an unmarried woman, not related to him in a way that would prohibit recognition. The child was given the name of Nunziata.

In the right margin:
Married Lucia di Benedetto, February 22, 1913
Then
He was legitimized by Giovanni Paolini and Antonia Volpe – Lucia for marriage in Giuliano Teatino, February 8, 1915.

After reading your translation I am confused about the translation of how he was legitimized. He married Lucia di Benedetto on 22 February 1913 in Canosa Sannita. Where does February 8, 1915 fit in in Giuliano Teatino?

Thank you.

Nunziato was born in 1893 of Giovanni and an unmarried woman. It looks like Giovanni and the unmarried woman married February 8, 1915, so he became legitimate upon their subsequent marriage. It took a while, as he himself was already married before his parents married.

And in the marriage that legitimized Nunziato's birth the spouse should have been listed as Antonia-Lucia Volpe. Sorry for the error.
