I have been on this journey for a while but I am having such a hard time finding the correct records for my family in Giungano. My great grandfather was Francesco Cirota who emigrated to NY in the 1890's and was born in Giungano around 1869. On his marriage license he has his father as Romano Cirota and his mother as Loretta Miglia. I was hoping somewhere nearby Giungano may be able to help me find records or point me to someone that can help me figure this one out.
There was some story about having two possible families (one in italy and one in ny) and I was hoping to figure that out. Thanks in advance!!

Here is the birth act for Francesco Cirota in December 1869 that matches the information on the Leva listing posted by Marty. Same parents: Raffaele [Cirota] and Maria Gugliemotti.

Re: Unraveling the Cirota's of Giungano
His second marriage was in the US in 1899.
So, not two families at the same time, but rather, one family with first wife in Italy and one family with second wife in America after the death of the first wife.
Nothing really intriguing.

In the 1921 Pubblicazioni di Matrimoni of her daughter Maria Cirota...
Lauretta Giffoni is listed as living... and the father, Francesco Cirota, is listed as deceased.

Yes, this seems to be the story I've been uncovering from Francesco. There seems to be a Cirota Palace in Agropoli. I wonder if that is any relation to my family line in Giungano.
