help with translation confusion.

Post by JohnBhoy »

Could the parents in these two 'Lombardo' records be the same? or completely different people.

Just a little confused.

Entry 50 and entry 3

I have a Gabriele Lombardo with wife Margherita Giacherillo

September 21, 1867 at town hall appeared Andrea Dodero, son of Antonino (Dodero), deceased, age 48, farmer, and Urbano Amprino, son of Giovanni (Amprino), deceased, age 37, both residents of this comune, and declared that at 7 o’clock this morning Gioanni Lombardo, age 36, farm owner, born and resident in this comune, died in his home in the town of Maisonetta Superiore. He was husband of Elisabettea Ferrero, living, and was the son of Gabriele (Lombardo), deceased, and of Margerita Giacherillo, deceased, both farmers and residents of this comune when alive.
Andrea Dodero and Urbano Amprino both signed their names as witnesses.

and

Gabriele Lombardo with wife Margarita Pent

Francesca Lombardo, 56 yo, housewife, born and resident in Sant'Antonino di Susa died on Jan 20, 1894. Wife of Felice Rossetto Casel.
Father: the deceased Gabriele, a farmer.
Mother: the deceased Margarita Pent, a farmer.

You cannot say they are the same Gabriele Lombardo. You should search for the marriage records.

Hi Livio,

I will have to do more digging, the marriage records for them are not available (well I haven't found them or sources for them yet) as are pre 1866

The strange thing about them was that Andrea who reported the death of Gioanni Lombardo (son of Gabriele Lombardo and Margerita Giacherillo) in 1867 is the son-in-law of the Gabriele Lombardo and Margharita Pent and the wife Marianna Lombardo - Death cert for Marianna Lombardo, 1903

More work to do on this for sure.
