Mannino families in Palermo. Clan or family group names.

Hi all,

I recently was in touch with a DNA connection via 23 and me who told me that there were Mannino family groups or 'clans' in Sicily. He knew which he descended from, but I had not heard of this.

Can anyone share any links or information where I can find out more? I'm curious as to how this came about and where the clan names were chosen or came from.

My GGG grandmother was Caterina Mannino B 1784 from Zisa and her father Antonino Mannimo B 1762 was from Torreta
