Please help me understand this Matrimoni, processetti regarding the marriage of Vito Nicola Donaido, son of Biasio and of Maria Teresa Pangaro to Annamaria Rosato, daughter of deceased Giovanni and living Maria Teresa Puppo.
The attachments include the birth record for the bride and groom followed by an abstract of the death record for the bride’s father Giovanni Rosato. The actual death record is not available however the index for 1817 is.
The index for Giovanni Rosato’s death on 9 Sep 1817 shows his parents as M? and Maria Teresa Puppo.

The next document in the package appears to be Francisco Antonio Rosato husband of Teresa Guglielmelli who died 17 Sep 1806 at age of 55.

I am confused. I would have expected the death record of Giovanni Rosato’s father since Giovanni could not consent to his daughter’s marriage and do not know why the record for Francisco Antonio Rosato is included.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

The index for Giovanni Rosato’s death on 9 Sep 1817 shows "husband of Maria Teresa Puppo". (No parents mentioned there.)

Angela,
Now I understand. When I looked at the death index under the parent’s name I failed to recognize that his father’s name did not begin with the letter M but rather it was the word marito.
Once again, than you for your help.

Yes, it's quite deceptive. You find this happens a lot in the indices, especially the earlier ones, in Potenza province, when the parents are not mentioned in the death records, but the wife is.khoney wrote: 15 Nov 2020, 18:02 Angela,

Hi Angela,
It is good to be back, I was getting rusty. I am trying to help a friend with her family tree. Her ancestors also came from Chiaromonte so it has provided a good opportunity to fill in my tree as well. Hopefully I will not have to ask for help too often but when I do I really appreciate your help as well as all the others who have been so generous with their expertise.
