Blasio Ventimiglia from Carini

Post by cj11788 »

Hello,

Below is a link and attached is the same page for Blasio Ventimiglia 1593 riveli from Carini. I am interested in the last person on the page. I believe it's Caterina but what's after her name?

Thanks

Chris

Can you provide a different link? The link you gave us is to a Family History Center and not accessible.
Thanks,
P.

His wife's name was Caterina Vesco so it might read "moglie" or another word for wife. Ages usually weren't recorded for females, so it's likely not her age.

Can you post the document?

She was also referred to as Caterinella, and perhaps Nella.

Hello,

Unfortunately the site isn't letting me upload files today!

I was thinking/hoping that Caterina is Blasio's mother. Thoughts?

I misread the family tree.

If this is your Blasio Ventimiglia then you're right. His mother was Caterina Vesco and his wife was Giovanna Serra. Blasio's father Leonardo died in 1574 so his mother very well could have been living with him. His wife and some children should also have been living with him in 1593.

Thank you.

I'm curious where you came up with Caterina's last name. Is it from the document? If so where. I'm trying to understand the words in the line where Caterina is listed. Especially the last word.

Thanks

The information comes from a family tree on Ancestry.com called "fellini family tree".

Now that I look at it again the name is Biagio (not Blasio) Ventimiglia born in 1546 in Carini. I believe Biagio is a more modern version of Blasio So, this may or may not be the person you're looking for.

Can't you attach the Riveli document, if the link doesn't work?

Chris

The last person is Biagio's mother. Giovanella is his wife; listed only under her married surname.

I can't read it either.

The first word might be "madre" (mother)?

The next words could be di esso? (of him)

The last word is a puzzle. The word for widow is "vedova" but this word looks different.

Anyway, there appear to be two brother apprentices living with them.

Have you looked at the family tree on Ancestry.com?

Chris- the last line reads "mother di esso revelante"-mother of the revealer/discloser, or person declaring the riveli; in other words, Biagio

I don't have a subscription to ancestry but can see this:
