Norwegians

Post by darkerhorse »

it's a stretch but let's consider Norway as Northern Italy.

I'm looking for an immigration record c.1879 and a 1880 census record for the Bohm family from Norway. They settled in Brooklyn, NY. Of course, there are variant spellings for Bohm.

Johan Fredrik Bohm b. 1841
Anne Marie Olsen b.1875
Ferdinand Bohm b.1942

I already have family records for later dates.

Corrected dates:

Johan Fredrik Bohm b. 1841
Anne Marie Olsen b.1842
Ferdinand Bohm b.1875

It's a married couple with their first child. There also might have been a Thorine (Carstens Bohm), mother of Johan, along on the trip.

Anne Marie was born 1849.

I'll get this right yet.

Johan Fredrik Bohm b. 1841
Anne Marie Olsen b.1849
Ferdinand Bohm b.1875

Maybe I should stick with Italians.

Their date of arrival is listed as May 17, 1879 in New York. I haven't been able to find their immigration record. Anyone else wanna try?

I don't see them on the 1880 census and not on immigration records. I do see them on an 1865 census in Norway. The household

Thorine Marie Bøhm 53
Johan Fredrik Bøhm 25
Hans Lund Bøhm 22
Thora Christine Bøhm 15
Anne Chalotte Marie Bøhm 19
Ole Hansen 26
Researching Gibellina, Sicily surnames Bivona, Bonafede, Zummo, Ponzio, Bevinetto, Beninati, Fontana, Cipolla, Bruno, Manfrè, Lanfranca, and Navarra

Thanks for replying.

Yes, that's them. I have their records in Norway, and in America starting in the1888-1889-1890 city directories and in the 1892 state census - and going forward. Johan's brother Hans Lund Bohm immigrated on March 28, 1882. I have that record.
