Figlia family

Post by Kaylie »

I am attempting to find out whether the following persons are related and how they are related. I have tried looking into Family Search and could not find anything that would connect these two persons.

1. Ciro Figlia: Born 10 September 1876/77 in Mezzojuso, provincia Palermo. Date of Death: August 9, 1941, New York City. He was married to Francesca Monastero, Year of birth: 1884, Villafrati, provincia Palermo. Death:
October 4, 1952, New York City.

AND

2. Giuseppe Figlia, Date of Birth: 15 January, 1870, in Mezzojuso, provincia Palermo. Died: 14 September, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was married to Marianna Campione, Date of Birth: 14 October, 1870. Died 13 Febraury, 1944, Kansas City, Missouri.

I have also reached a brick wall with regard to finding the parents of Ciro Figlia. If I could get some assistance with the above, I would very much appreciate it. Be advised that this may be a second request as I am not sure my request of this morning went through. Thank you once again in advance for your help.

It appears by Adelfio's findings they were most likely cousins (sons of brothers), or possibly sons of cousins.

My best friend's parents were both from Mezzojuso (none of these surnames, however).

Have you researched Antenati..? I can check the registers but since Adelfio didn't post anything further, that might be all there is available. Generally the same surname in a particular town indicates branches of the same family. The neighboring towns would most often have different surnames (with a couple of possible exceptions). Same in my grandparent's town near Rome. There are at least 2 surnames that are in BOTH of their branches -- apparently distant cousins from the same families. It's not uncommon as most towns were independent of each other & their citizens rarely mixed...

:!: According to Ciro's birth act, his father Angelo was age 40.

Here is a POSSIBLE birth act for Angelo in 1835 (#62)
Father Pietro Figlia
Mother Tommasa di Carlo
