Trying to determine if this child is Giovanno or Giovanna -D'Angelo on Line 140_Image 373_Year 1852 ??

I recognize the Parents (from previous help) as Benedetto & Caterina Colajanni
And Birth of child as 14 April 1852.

The actual official record page is missing from the scanned in images, (:-(( so gender of name hard to confirm.
( a few pagers #'s are missing in the 1852 Marineo )

I'd say male, based on other names which I can read ending in "a". The ending for your listing differs from those other names ending in "a". But that's just an educated guess.

I agree that it's male, Giovanni (not Giovanno in the original post). The names ending in "a" have a longer tail on the end. Also, if you look at entries 140, 143, and 151, the script is pretty slanted and on each of those the last letter (i) finishes to the left of the vertical line, but on each you can see the dot over the "i" just on or just right of the vertical line.

I also thought it looked like Giovanni, but I didn't mention it because I believe Giovanno is also a legitimate first name.

There's obviously a clerical error. This is a marriage pubblication. You should look for the marriage record to see what that says.

Yes they did, and especially in Palermo!!! Generally we would go by what is written in the body of the record, but I always like to check all records available, just to be to sure.
