Y-DNA
Y-DNA
i find very few matches on my paternal line M-423 who are from Italy. Based on extensive research, i can document my paternal line in Italy back to the mid 16th century for certain. They lived in the same town until emigrating to the USA in 1900. The area in Italy where they lived was occupied by the Longobards for several centuries so perhaps that is stirring the DNA pot. Nearly 100% of the DNA matches are from Eastern Europe.

Re: Y-DNA
I-M423 is mainly a Balkan haplogroup, so migration into Italy would not be far-fetched...

Re: Y-DNA
Your Y haplogroup is only one of hundreds of lines that you have on your paternal side back to the 16th century. That one line might have come from the Balkans decades or centuries prior to the 16th century and eventually assimilated into Italian ethnicity.
