Gaetana D'Angelo from Cerami

Post by Christineabella »

I'm trying to find information in Cerami about my grandmother, Gaetana D'Angelo. I'm planning a trip back to Sicily. I was there years ago and could find no information about which house she grew up in or if she had any family still left there.

I know about her life in New Jersey but nothing from her life or family in Sicily.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Do you have her birth record?
Or her birth date, and parents?

Gaetana D’Angelo - Born April 24, 1898 I was told that there is a possibility that Rosalia Spitalesi is her mother. I have no information on who her father is.

Here is her birth record (erroneously indexed as Gaetano, but it states she was a female).

She was born on Apr 23rd, 1898, daughter of Luigi (son of deceased Gaetano), 52 years old, peasant, and of Rosolia Spitaleri, daughter of Giuseppe. She was born in parents' home at via Castello.

Thank you! Thank you! Pippo. I don't know how you found her but I am so grateful to you.

Do you know if there is any other family she had or if there are any still living in Sicily?

I've found a brother named Gaetano, born On Dec 2nd, 1900, when the father Luigi was 60:

Gaetano married Giuseppa Gagliano in Cerami on Sep 4th, 1920, so it is likely that there are some descendants.

I've looked in the ten-year-index for 1886-1895, but could not find any other sibling.
Nor I could find Luigi and Rosalia's marriage.
My guess is that Rosalia was not from Cerami, and they got married in her town.
It is possible to find the banns for their marriage in the years immediately before 1898 here:

but there are no indexes, so you should go page by page.
