Hi There,

Could you let us know exactly what research you've already done and what your research goals are? Possible birth years would also help...just makes it a bit easier than having to go thru ellis to find manifests and then look for more info...

Antonio Calfo b. Nov 1886 D Apr 1 1965
Birthplace possibly either Gioia Taura or Polistena RC Italy
wife Rosaria Longordo B. 31 may 1885 d. July 10, 1965
I have been able to locate both of their Ellisisland records. I don't know when they married, but their oldest daughter, my GM Carmella b aug 25, 1907 same places listed above, died 23 july 1993. Her brother louis died in italy at a young age and her sister Teresa married Vito Abbruscato and she died early 1940's.

Antonio's parents

I have in an old sheet, and mind you I don't know where I got the info, that Antonio parents were louis and Carmella (Loreo* not sure if that is correct spelling). This makes sense according to the naming tradition.

Rosaria Longordo's ellis island record has her mother listed as Teresa Lombardo, but I have no idea what her father's name was
that is what i have so far on this side, I am trying to find relatives here and back in Italy.

OH MY GOD, you are fantastic!!!
First I do not have any cenus records for Antonio Calfo. I do have his manifest and ww2 draft card, but not the ww1 card.
These are all correct. I was always confused, b/c my father always said Bianco, not Bianchi, I just confirmed this info with him. Flora was married to Joseph Bruno, i have incorrect info above. MAry, Amdrew, Rose and Dominic are not his siblings they are Flora and Joseph's children. Will Shaare more as I get it

I was on ancestry for the two week period and then I signed up for one month, but I hit a wall. Then I got a job in my field, which is political campaign work. When it gets going I work about 15 hrs a day 6 days a week and 8 on sundays, doesn't leave much time so I got rid of ancestry. When I called to cancel, the guy told me that over the next six months they are going to be loading records from italy. Won't that be great if they could get it done. I am really trying to get this done over the next year b/c it will be my parents 50th wedding anniversary is next June. My dad said if he has relatives still in italy he is going. I am still trying to get somewhere on my slovak side, but nobody has a site as great as this.
Once again I sincerly thank you and everyone else who who helped. And I will always take more help, I am a volunteer coordinator and I never turn down help.

Question, is there a search forum button or Surname databse on this site?
it is so large, i was wondering if there was a way to be able to locate if someone else is searching the same name.

Nina,
Great gift for your parents!
Lots of experts here - we'll see what we can do.
Dumb question, any chance Calfo was mis-spelled on the manifests?
Not many Calfo's on Ellis Island records.
May help find relatives in Italy for your dad if there was another possible spelling?

Hi Nina,

If Anontio Calfo filled out his social security application correctly, his town of birth will be provided.

Here is a link to form letter to request a copy of his appplication.

http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.c ... amesiffix=

If it does provide town of birth & it's one of the towns that I provided the LDS film information on, then you're all set to order the films. If different, let us know & we'll check for avail films.

Hi all!
Have we got a new service for posting images yet?
Nina is looking for census images (above)
If not I could mail, or Nina could use access to ancestry.com at her local Family History Center.
What do you think?
Thanks! Valarie
