Languso Italy
On a few of my ancestor's records, the ship manifest, the last place of residence showed Languso. I can't find that town in Italy and I'm interested in knowing it's location. I'm wondering if there was a misspelling and it's really Langusco or if the town name was changed since 1904? Any help is appreciated.
Re: Languso Italy
Hi, I believe LANCUSI right. Lancusi is a big hamlet of Fisciano, Salerno, IT.
I found PIERRO Gennaro born in Fisciano on 8 Jan 1896 son of Matteo PIERRO and of Michela CERRATO. On 1896 the family lived in Bolano, another hamlet of Fisciano.
Because just 4 people had Languso last residence:
Cerreto, Antonia Languso 6 1896-1897 1903
Cerreto, Gemaro Languso 7 1895-1896 1903
Cerreto, Michele Languso 33 1869-1870 1903
Petrone, Rocco Languso 34 1868-1869 1903
you can see that the name of Michela was wrong and changed in Michele( that is a first name of men) and Cerrato in Cerreto... Gennaro mispelled Gemaro... but if you read more name are other people coming from Langhusi that is wrong spell.
Right spelling is LANCUSI (Hamlet of Fisciano, Salerno, IT).
Hoping helpful,

Hi Suanj - As you said, Lancusi is a hamlet near Fisciano. What is interesting is, on the 1862-1876 map, Lancusi was spelled "Langusi." It appears in the middle of this part of the map:

You can see Fisciano near the top of this view.
