Hi ! How are you? I’m in the search of my avo’s mother: her birth certificate and marriage certificate for genealogical purposes.
As well, I’m looking for the death certificate of Carlo (please see below) as I can’t find it in FamilySearch.
Name: Catterina Vassarotti
Parents: Simone Vassarotti y Antonia Maria Oggero
Estimated birth date: 1836-1840
Estimated birth place: Torino
Married in: xx (I believe Torino Comune or surroundings)
Estimated marriage date: 1861-1865. My gg father was born in 1865, so he might have been her first son.
Husband: Carlo Robotti
Husband’s birth date: 18/10/1828 en Quargnento (Alessandria)
Husband’s parents: Pietro Agostino Robotti / Rosa Scagliotti
Husband’s place of birth: Quargnento, Alessandria
Husband’s place of death: Comune di Torino, 15/08/1899 – Link to the deaths index – Image 50 https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... at=1163309
Where did they live in Argentina: Carlo didn’t live in Argentina. Catterina emigrated when she became a widow and lived with her son in Buenos Aires city
Name of her children:
Agostino Robotti – born May 1865 in Comune di Torino
Clemente Robotti – born 1876 in Comune di Torino – Catterina is 36 at that time. - Link: https://www.familysearch.org/search/fil ... 850?i=1741... - Image 1742
Additional information:
Catterina’s siblings:
-Brother: In the Borgo di Torino parish I found in 1837 the birth of a brother of Catterina (Giacomo)- Link: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=414653 - Image 2155
- Brother: In the parish della SS Annunziata there is another brother of Catterina (Guido Matteo) in 1838- Link: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=414653 - Image 182
- Sister: In the parish della SS Annunziata there is a sister of Catterina (Gioanna) in 1839- https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... at=414653- Image 2404
- In the parish of the SS Annunziata there is another brother of Catterina (Giuseppe) in 1840 - Link: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=414653 - Image 1254
-In her death certificate in Argentina, she is 70 in 1907. That’s why her birth range is between 1836 and 1840 (+/-)
Thanks a lot for your help in advance!

Here is the page for that Carlo Robotti's death. Top left corner of this page, plus the bottom right of the previous.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... at=1163309
Carlo Robotti died 22 Jan 1893 age 77, born in Quargnento, son of Pietro Robotti & Francesca Ferrari (both deceased), widower of Margherita Pastori.
The records here are a total mess organizationally. You were looking at the 1893 death index for his death record in uffizio primo, parte seconda, #112. This one looks like he might not be yours if you're sure of his family info.
The one in the 1899 index is in u2, p1, #1160.

Carlo Sebastiano Robotti died 15 Aug 1899 age 70 son of Agostino Robotti & Rosa Scagliotti (both deceased), husband of Catterina Vassarotti.

Re: Catterina Vassarotti - birth and marriage certificates
Hi rlw254,
Many thanks for taking the time in helping me in the search. You are absolutely correct!
It's the second Carlo you found, I was looking in the wrong place. I can't thank you enough!
Do you have any suggestions/guidance on where or how to look for Catterina's birth and marriage with Carlo? I don't mind going page by page if needed, but I'm a bit confused with all the records available to be honest.
Thanks a lot once again for all your help, very much appreciated.
Best,
Santiago

Re: Catterina Vassarotti - birth and marriage certificates
You give a range of dates for Catterina's birth (1836-1840+/-) - but I notice that you also post links to siblings born in 1837, 1838, 1839, 1840. Unless she is a twin of one of these siblings it is unlikely (though not impossible) for her to have been born in those years. Just my opinion - I believe that you should be searching before 1836 and after 1840.

Re: Catterina Vassarotti - birth and marriage certificates
I have significantly less experience researching in Torino compared to southern Italy and often avoid it due to the size, how many parishes there are, and how many small towns are nearby. It can be very time consuming. The biggest issue is that it seems like most of the parishes do not have indices and have to be searched page-by-page, and many important years from the civil registration are missing. From the searching I did do, I saw few (if any) Vassarotti which would generally indicate they were from a different place (maybe not). As the marriages were recorded in the town of the bride, you may not find their marriage in Torino. Modern distribution might suggest Rivoli, Giaveno, or closer to Asti.
I agree with Tessa - chances are you won't find her between 1837-1840. Given that her first child was born around 1865 I would guess that you'll find her in the 1840s rather than earlier in the 1830s, but perhaps not.
I will say I have never seen such a sequentially tight group of births. One tired mother.
Giacomo Giacomo 27 July 1837
Guido Matteo 28 Dec 1838
Gioanna Maria Maddalena 26 Dec 1839
Giuseppa Giacinta Maria 20 Dec 1840

Re: Catterina Vassarotti - birth and marriage certificates
Hi! Thank you both Tessa and rlw254 for your responses and your help on this!
I will keep looking for her birth certificate and will begin in the 1840s as suggested.
Is there any tip that you can provide for the search in the 1830s? Since records are in latin and they seem to be a mess and not follow the same pattern as in the 40s.
Many thanks once again!
