Birth Record Translation
Birth Record Translation
Can someone please translate the birth record for Luigi Sciabica?
September 8, 1843, Record #87
https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... d=15334073
Father:Salvatore Sciabica
Mother: Carmela Vasile
Does the birth record indicate the parents are not married? Salvatore and Carmela did not marry until April 1845.
Would the birth record typically mention this information?

Does the birth record indicate the parents are not married? Salvatore and Carmela did not marry until April 1845. No, it does not explicitly state that the couple was unmarried. The child was presented by Salvatore as his natural son (essergli figlio naturale) after the given name.
This seems to indicate that they may not have been married in a civil ceremony. It is very possible that they were married in a church ceremony.)
The birth took place at the home of Antonino Lovecchio.
Would the birth record typically mention this information?

The Marriage Promise, No 7, dated 28 April 1845 shows that they married in the church on 30 April 1845. (See Page 9: https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... d=15333924)
Do you know whether Luigi lived? The marriage copy isn’t in the greatest condition and tricky to read, but I can’t see any mention of Luigi being legitimised in the marriage document, so I'm wondering whether he may have died?

Re: Birth Record Translation
First, I just want to say thank to everyone who has been so helpful on this forum.
I believe Luigi died May 1849.
Does the marriage promise typically mention anything about children before marriage? What would I look for?
With a child before marriage would there be only a civil marriage and not a marriage recognized by the church?

Re: Birth Record Translation
I'm having trouble reading the baptism date for Carmela Vasile.
Is it December 24, 1820 or 1826?
I checked the civil records and could not find a record of her birth.

Thank you. After my last post here I went through the records up to late April 1845 to see whether there was a death record for Luigi. It just seems odd that there was no mention of him being legitimised through his parents 1845 marriage?

Ho cercato anch'io, anche nei registri 'Diversi' di quegli anni, ma non ho trovato niente.
