Re: Cifone Family
Dear Suanj,
Very interesting information, thank you. The birth record you found for Angelo Ciffone (Cifone) is in fact my great-grandfather, born February 6, 1866. He emigrated to the United States in December of 1888, started his own business and became a Naturalized US citizen in 1896. He travelled back to Italy in 1892, then returned to New York on the Hindoustan from Naples. The ship arrived in New York on July 6, 1892. On board the ship was my great-grandmother Rachaela Ferrari (I'm not sure I have the correct spelling of her name). I know she was born around 1875, but do not know where in Italy she was born, nor do I know if she already knew my great-grandfather or if they met on board the ship. I believe she married my great-grandfather in New York in 1892 or 1893. They had 7 children and she died in 1909 at age 34. I haven't been able to locate any details apart from her arrival in New York and the year of her death. Would you have any suggestions as to how I might find her birth record and information about her family?
Thanks you and regards,
James

Re: Cifone Family
I searched in the Cassano allo Jonio marriage 1892-from Jan to July and no marriage record, and no marriage record abt Rachele Ferrari and Angelo Ciffone in New York.. maybe she was born in same birthplace of Angelo.... and no marriage note on the birth record: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2043557Nycnative5 wrote: 18 Jan 2018, 03:24 Dear Suanj,

Re: Cifone Family
Good afternoon,
After a long time I found an article in the newspaper where Angelo MARIA Cifone showed a message (who after a while omitted MARIA in his Documents) in this article he informed that he was returning to his hometown of Tortora and there I found his birth certificate 2 de January 1967.
Follow the link: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G97V-HR9H
I'm looking for his arrival in Brazil or the marriage certificate with Angelica Feitoza de Castro or maybe the birth certificate of his daughter Maria Julia Cifone but this and the marriage I believe is in Ceará/Brazil.
Thanks.

Re: Cifone Family
Good morning,
Thank you for your help.
The records we have of Angelo Maria Cifone in Ceará-Brasil were in March 1897, where he published in the newspaper that he left the country for health reasons and will go to Tortora, thanks to his help we discover that it was probably due to his mother Maria Giuseppa Cifone who was ill and who died 4 months after publication and in June 1897.
In this period from 1894 to 1897 is the probable period of birth of his legitimate daughter Maria Julia Cifone, which we have marriage certificates (1915) and death (1980) in Forteleza, both records mentioned as Brazilian, but the birth dates differ.
After this trip to Tortora in 1897, Angelo only returns to appear in the newspapers in 1907. However, we have family stories that say he returned with 2 children (Maria Julia and Francisco, younger) about 10 years later. Maybe it fits the story, or it's coincidence. Unfortunately we don't have the place and date of your wedding.
I hope I made it clear.
Thanks again.

Re: Cifone Family
yes it is clear, but I searched in various database of various ports with different surname spelling and no results.. I was searching abt maria julia. More in Tortora no maria Giulia births and no Angelo marriage.. maybe he had the children in Brasil and when he back in italy the children remained in Brasil with mother.. maybe could be helpful to search in Fortaleza births...
