Help with the bottom of this birth act

Post by trevisan2 »

I have a Chiara Segetti born without life in Montecarlo, Lucca.

Some family members think that Chiara means stillborn.
I think it’s her name even though she was born dead.

Could someone transcribe out the wording at the bottom of the page.

Thank you

Chiara means "light" (also bright, clear, etc.)

The paragraph states that the declarant (the father) dispensed with the presentation of the child to the official but ascertained the truth of the child being born without life.

It basically says the declarant was dispensed with having to present the deceased child and that the fact the infant was born lifeless was otherwise ascertained. It goes on to say the deed was read to those present.

Chiara was not an uncommon female name -- it means "clear". I had a 3GGm named Chiara. One of my sets of 2GGp's had stillborn fraternal twins. They were born on Xmas day. They named the boy "Natale" (Italian for Xmas)...

Tessa, when I responded mine was the only response for some time. Now yours appears before mine. I wonder if it's a glitch in the site's program..?

My post was listed as 6 seconds before yours...
Most likely a "glitch" in the system :-)

But it is nice to see that our responses concur.
