Help translating death certificate pls

Hi could someone please help me out with translation of the document on pages 26&27 for Salvatore Manzi. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance

The record is dated on Aug 29, 1909 at 11:15 in the town hall of Ravello. Appearing before the town official was Maria Bonaventura Sammarco, age 50, a housewife living in Ravello, and the widow of Salvatore Mansi. She presented to the official a copy of the death act of Salvatore Mansi, and asked that it be transcribed into the registers of this town. The town official addressed her legitimate request and transcribed the copy which had been received from the Minister of Grace and Justice-office of translation- Holborn*-1909- May 1, 1909. Salvatore had died in Queens Square, described here as the Italian Hospital, and died of chronic pancreatitis on March 3, 1909 at age 53. On that date, his death from this cause was certified by a doctor named Giordano Diodato. The town official of Ravello then inserted the copy of his death act into the volume of allegati of this town in the presence of two witnesses, Gerardo Mansi, age 50, a property owner, and Pantaleone Mansi, age 25, both were residents of this town.

The notation on the next page just refers to the closing out of part C of the register, which contained only this one death act, on Jan 1, 1910. Then there is the signature of the town official.

Livio, you are correct. I originally typed the surname with the z and then changed it for some unknown reason. Maybe a senior moment! Thanks for the second set of eyes.

ManSi is how this surname is spelled through much of the records seen from Ravello....this is the 1874 Morti index chosen for it's clarity of handwriting.

Yea I’m unsure some say Manzi some Mansi?? Is it common for name to change slightly?

Lucie81 has confirmed to me that the Sal Manzi in this death record is not of the family she is researching. While I agree with Nick that, in some records for Ravello, the surname looks like it is written with the letter s, and not with the letter z, I found this particular Sal's death listed in the death index on the British National Archives website, and there the surname is written as Manzi and not Mansi. In English, the difference would be in whether or not the sound is voiced or voiceless, when the name is spoken. Since I'm not a native Italian speaker, I don't know what the difference in Italian pronunciation would be.

Just as a sidenote-regardless of which way the surname is spelled, it supposedly developed as a nickname for someone who had ox like qualities, or resembled an ox, and so it refers to someone who was gentle and easy-going, or it developed as an occupational name for someone who worked with oxen.

Happy to help, Lucie. Just glad I located this Sal's marriage record so that we had his parents' names and could eliminate this death record as belonging to the Sal in your ancestry.
