Need help with a name
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out the name of Domenica D'Onghia's mother, Elisabetta's father.
Domenica D'Onghia Birth: https://iiif-antenati.san.beniculturali ... efault.jpg
Domenica's parents' marriage rec:
Page 1: https://iiif-antenati.san.beniculturali ... efault.jpg
Page 2: https://iiif-antenati.san.beniculturali ... efault.jpg
On the marriage record, it looks like Elisabetta's father's name is Giovanni Marino, though it is odd on the marriage record they don't show Elisabetta herself with her maiden name like most of these records I've seen do.
On Domenica's birth record it lists her mother, again without her maiden name and with what looks like Giammanico for her father's name, unless it is a badly written Giovanni.
Any thoughts on this one?

Re: Gennaro and Elisabetta’s marriage record:
It says that EIisabetta Donghia, 21 yo, was the daughter of Giovanni Marino (Donghia), and the deceased Domenica Amatulli.
Re: Domenica’s “1874” Birth Record = Domenica’s parents are Gennaro d’onghia, who was the son of the deceased Vitantonio;
and Elizabetta d’Onghia, 24 yo, who was the daughter of Giommarino (ie Giovanni Marino) (d’Onghia).
My thinking is that Domenica’s surname is also Donghia/d’Onghia, and that in Domenica's "1874" Birth Record, her father's two names have been combined to read Giommarino.

I agree with Angela.
Gennaro and Elisabetta had the same surname (that is not unusual in small towns), and her father Giovanni Marino is also mentioned as Giammarino.

You are very welcome for the help, Minnie. Yes, it can be a little confusing at times. If ever in doubt, just post the records here for another set of eyes to take a look. I was thinking that if there are any marriage allegati on line, they would be worth searching through. There may not be. I'll take a look later.

Re: Need help with a name
While there are Marriage Allegati/Processetti on line for most years, there are none for 1860. However, when I had a closer look at what allegati were listed on the Marriage Record, to my delight I noticed that the dates of the various events were included, and so I was able to quickly locate the relevant records, which I've posted below. If you need the records translated, let us know and we can chip away at them.
So, amongst the allegati were:
1. Birth Acts of the Bride and Groom (No dates mentioned here)
2. Death Act of Vitantontio Donghia, father of the groom who died 18 December 1851
Death Act No 170: Page 100: https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... _id=266311
3. Death Act of Domenico Donghia, paternal grandfather of the groom, who had died in Noci on 22 January 1842. Death Act No 18, Page 11: https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... 98&lang=en
4. Death Act of Domenica Amatulli, mother of the bride, who had died in Noci on 23 January 1857.
Death Act No 10, Page 7: https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... _id=266323
Finally the Notification Act and the Certificate of Non Opposition to the marriage taking place.

Re: Need help with a name
Angela you are indeed an angel! Thank you as I hadn't gone looking for the death records yet. You've saved me a lot of time! I did find the marriage record for Vitantonio D' Ohnghia and Domenica Maria Giannini who were married in 1827. I was just going to post this, as I need some help deciphering the Domenica's mother's name:
Near the bottom of the page on the right is the mother of the bride, Maria <something> Campagnoli (I think)
https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... _id=266232 Page 2
High Res: https://iiif-antenati.san.beniculturali ... efault.jpg
I've tried matching it against an extensive list of female give names, but no luck. Anyone know what her middle name might be and if I have the last name correct?

There is no middle name. Her name is Maria Silvestri and her occupation is a countrywoman/peasant/farmer i.e. campagnuola, although in the record it has campagnuoli (plural) referring to both she and her husband.

Oh no!!! I'm sure I've done the same in the past. You are so welcome for the help. What you might want to do is just post some of your translations that you are not sure about and we can check them off for you, so that gives you certainty. A lot of people do this when they first begin translating their own records. Otherwise, sometimes you can miss things. Just a suggestion. You are doing well - your records arn't the best quality and tricky to read in places.

Will do. I don't have too many I'm not sure of right now. But, if I get anymore, I will surely post.
