Missing Marriage Record
Hi, I am trying to find a marriage record between Giuseppe Cipollone (circa 1838, Sora) and Filomena Fantauzzi (have not found her birth record). Giuseppe was married previously to Maria Capobianco and she passed away on 29 Dec 1884 in Sora. Giuseppe and Filomena had their first child together, Maria Cipollone, born 9 Oct 1887 in Sora. I have checked through the marriage records from Sora between 1884-1887 but I have not been able to find Giuseppe and Filomena's record. From what I have found so far, both were born and resided in Sora. Could they have possibly gotten married in a near by town?

Re: Missing Marriage Record
This is a long shot, but here goes. I have an Agnese Fantauzzi in my family tree. She was born in Balsorano (province of L'Aquila). This name is found in Balsorano to this day.
You could take a chance and check the Balsorano records.
I am aware that this last name is found in Sora, and Rome for that matter. In any case, good luck in your search.

Re: Missing Marriage Record
Yes this could be a possibility too... most of my family is actually from Balsorano and that name is common, though there are no records for Balsorano after 1865.

POSSIBILITY???
Filomena Fantauzzi - born 1843 in Balsorano. Unfortunately, no annotation of marriage on the birth act.

EDIT: This Filomena's mother was Maria, possibly followed naming tradition in naming first daughter Maria.
Of course, we are dealing with a common given name and a common surname here.

Re: Missing Marriage Record
Thanks for your reply! This could be a possibility though, Filomena had her last child in about 1907... due to this I estimated that she would have been born between 1860-1870. I found a Filomena Fantauzzi born in 1868 in Sora, though I later came across a death record for this Filomena in 1874 when she died at the age of six.
Re: Missing Marriage Record
Since the records for Balsorano are not online after 1865... I would write and inquire about a marriage in the range 1884-1887. Marriages usually took place in the hometown of the bride.

Thank you, will do! When writing an inquiry to a commune is there a fee to pay for someone to look into the archives for me?
Re: Missing Marriage Record
Records are free, but there may be a charge for copying and mailing. Do not send $$ until asked.pasqualedb wrote: 28 Jun 2022, 21:30 Thank you, will do! When writing an inquiry to a commune is there a fee to pay for someone to look into the archives for me?

Balsorano offers this email address for the stato civile office:
sd@comune.balsorano.aq.it
Might be more timely for you to send your initial inquiry via email.

Balsorano is not one of them but several towns in this area are now charging Archive fees and for original copies.
Picinisco, and Sant'Apollinare come to mind.
