Re: Can You Help Identify This Town
Sorry. Submitted document before I could finish my request. I cannot read the handwriting to identify the place of birth for Francesca Chiodo, whose death certificate is attached. She died in 1844 in the Feruci neighborhood of Trenta, Cosenza district. Her son was born in Feruci in the late 1790s. So I thought Francesca may have been born in that area, as well, around 1775.
I've tried to decipher the handwriting for where she was born. However, none of my guesses match any town, quarter, or neighborhood that I can find online. If anyone is familiar with this region, any tips would be appreciated. Thank you

Re: Can You Help Identify This Town
TerraLavoro,
Thank you very much for the quick reply! That might be the answer, since it fits with what I know about the family. I never guessed that the fourth letter might be a "b".
Previously (and just now) I've pulled up indices with lists of towns in Cosenza province, and Cribari does not show up. Even a map of Trenta that I've pulled up doesn't have Cribari as a frazione. I'll have to dig deeper into this location. Thanks again.

Re: Can You Help Identify This Town
Trenta is now a frazione of the comune of Casali del Manco.
The frazione is divided into administrative regions, one of which is Cribari.

Tessa78,
Thanks. And I've now seen on a map where this neighborhood is located within Trenta.

Re: Can You Help Identify This Town
Yes, and at one time (before 2017) Trenta was a comune, so Cribari was likely a village of the town.
