History of Luzzano

Hello! Where can I learn more about the small town of Luzzano? I'd like to learn when the town was founded, who some of the first settlers were and maybe how people lived their daily lives. My ancestors are from luzzano and most them were farmers, i would love to learn what exactly they farmed. The whole name is Luzzano, Moiano, Benevento, Italy. I've tried looking online but only seem to find tourist/vacation information. I've also checked two local libraries and they have nothing on the specific town I want. Thanks for any help!

Hi Amanda - If you're still interested, Luzzano is briefly described in the Dizionario, Geografico-Istorico-Fiscio, Del Regno di Napoli, which was published in 1796:

The description of the town is on pages 161 and 162. Google has translated it as follows:

"Luzzano Casale Regio Allodiale in the Province of Montefusco, and in the Diocese of Sant Agata de Goti, which lies at the foot of a mountain, with fresh air, and in the distance of about one mile from the city of Airola. Casale which with the death of the Prince della Riccia without heirs and passed under the jurisdiction of the Beni Allodiali del Re Nostro Signore, has only one Parish Church under the title of San Vito Martire. The productions of its territory are then supplies of various kinds, fruits, wines, and herbs for grazing flocks. Its population finally rises to seven hundred and ninety three under the spiritual care of a parish priest."
