Re: Luigi Tosto Notation in Birth
This appears to be a birth of another child born to the same couple in 1907.
Father is Salvatore Tosto, and his occupation is the same, panettiere.
Mother's given name is Salvatrice, and surname looks like Guzzono(?)
Address seems right.
Child is Paolo Giuseppe Tosto.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2043496
Possibility? Though the spelling of the surname in Catania is Guzzone, I believe.

Re: Luigi Tosto Notation in Birth
Yes, I found the marriage in the index and searched the entire year, page by page, and did not find them. Maybe you will have better luck
Your 1921 ship manifest confirms the surname for Salvatrice. She is listed as Salvatrice Conzaga Guzzone.
ALSO...
What I see on the 1935 ship manifest is that Provvidenza Grazia was born in USA and is a US Citizen . Salvatrice Conzaga Gussone is listed as born in Militello.

Re: Luigi Tosto Notation in Birth
Happy to help!
The marriage act gave the clue to the births being in Militello.
However, I have not been able to find Provvidenza Grazia Tosto birth in either Militello or Catania. I searched years 1912 - 1916.
Going back another generation...
Here is the marriage of Luigi Conzaga Guzzone Neglia (age 22) with Sebastiana Vasta (age 16) ---(parents of Salvatrice Conzaga) ---in 1886 in Milittello...

Re: Luigi Tosto Notation in Birth
On the birth of Salvatrice, does it say Luigi and Sabastiana Vasta are not married, or just living with each other?
Also I have not seen so many surnames attached to Italian records! So is Luigi last name Neglia-Conzaga-Guzzone? What does that mean as far as his parents last names?

In Sicily there are many who have double surnames (supranome) to help distinguish branches of the families. This is the first time I have encountered a triple surname.
NOTE: I posted Luigi and Sebastiana's marriage above.
They were married in 1886.
Women in Italy keep their maiden name -
Yes, they were living together [as husband and wife] moglie=wife
And Salvatrice's surname is also Conzaga Guzzone Neglia, which was shortened to Conzaga on her marriage act.

Re: Luigi Tosto Notation in Birth
Wow, you keep surprising me! Was just looking for that marriage. Nice find again!
Does it say the father's name of Luigi as Nicolo? Hard to read
Thanks is just not enough!

Re: Luigi Tosto Notation in Birth
Yes, Luigi's father is deceased Nicolo, and mother is not named.
Sebastiana Vasta's father is Paolo, and mother is deceased Rosa Seria.
EDIT:
This is the link to the allegati (attachments) to the marriage records for Luigi and Sebastiano.
It contains the births of the spouses as well as required death acts, certificate of notification, etc.
What I found is that Luigi Consaga(this is the spelling) was an abandoned child and was presented at the town hall by the woman who was the Receiver of the abandoned . He was given his name by the official.
Subsequently, (the second record in the folder) in 1885, Nicolo Guzzone Neglia appeared with a notarized "recognition" of Luigi Consaga as his son. So that is where the 3 surnames came from.
Also, it mentions that Nicolo's father is the deceased Paolo. Another generation back...
Interestingly, also included among the records is Nicolo's death in 1885 at age 63, naming his parents, but also stating the he was unmarried.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=1483039
As I said, Sebastana's birth is included, as well as the death of her mother, Rosa Seria.
