Help translating birth record for Maria Cristina Perri

Post by Mattrock »

Hi everyone,

I need a little help translating and interpreting this birth record for my 2nd great grandmother, Maria Cristina Perri. An 1888 marriage record in Parenti to my 2nd great grandfather indicates her parents were unknown, which leads me to believe she might have been born out of wedlock. I was wondering what could be learned and inferred from this birth certificate. It dates from May 1870 and can be seen at https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 03/LpnQdEr

I have also attached an image of it to this post. A little of the first part on the other page is cut off but 95% is here.

Thanks!

This birth act indicates that the child was presented to the town official by Maria Mancuso [daughter of deceased Vincenzo] a 56yo spinner who assisted with the birth, and who declared to the official that the mother does not consent to be named. The child was born on 17 May 1870 at 2 AM in her home situated in Via Chiesa.
The child was given the name Maria Cristina and the surname Perri.
Witnesses to the recording of the birth were Gabriele Mirabelli, 38, son of deceased Giuseppe; and Carmine Perri, 50, son of deceased Rosario; both laborers residing in the town.
