DiLeonardo from Contessa Entellina

Post by teacup »

Grandmother was from Contessa Entellina, I want to contact a church there to see if they have any information on the family but am not sure how to find that out. Does anyone know of this town and its churches?

Thank you,
Terri

Here is a list of the churches for your town of interest:

1 SS. Annunziata e S. Nicolò in Contessa Entellina
Piazza Matrice, 90030 Contessa Entellina (PA)

2 Maria SS. Regina del Mondo in Contessa Entellina
Borgo Piano Cavaliere, 90030 Contessa Entellina (PA)

3 Maria SS. della Favara in Contessa Entellina
Via Morea, 90030 Contessa Entellina (PA)

All request for info should be in Italian not English, if by chance you do not know the language, here is a standard form letter to use for your request.

This is an excellent guideline by the Lds to use when writing to Italy.

This is a great page which lists genealogical resources by town for Provincia di Palermo...

http://www.rootsweb.com/~itapaler/towns.html

and here is a genealogy site specifically for Contessa Entellina:

Thank you all so much!
Jim,
I went to the Contessa Entellina site and the picture of the countryside was so beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes! I an only guess that times must have been really bad for the family to leave such a lovely area!

Ricbru, wldspirit, you are the best! I can see I will be very busy for a long time with all the contact infomration you have given me. Again, thank you for your generosity!

terri,
If you will contact me I will be happy to see if I have information about your grandmother. It is my web site with the Contessa Entellina picture that you went to. I have many thousands of records about immigrants from Contessa Entellina and their ancestors. Also have thousands of records from the churches in Contessa.
