1856 Atto di Morte - Francesco Capizzi

Post by malsbury »

I have located the death record of Francesco Capizzi, husband of Giovanna Russo (my 5th great grandparents).

I would welcome any assistance with the translation of information such as locations, occupations, and informants.

I can see that his father was reported as Sebastiano, and can make out his mothers name Grazia, but have not been able to work out Grazia's surname. Any input form someone more familiar with this style of handwriting and Sicilian surnames would be helpful. This would be a new generation and frailly name to add to my research.

Death No 80: Francesco Capizzi

Registered in Villalba on 7 October 1856

Appearing were Giuseppe Zaffuto, 56 yo, Borgese (small land owner) and Giuseppe Amato, 21 yo, campagnuolo (countryman), both living in Villalba. They reported that today, i.e. 7 October 1856, at 5 pm Maestro Francesco Capizzi, died in his own home. He was 60 yo, a seaman, born and living in Villalba, and the husband of Giovanna Russo, and the son of the deceased Sebastiano and of the deceased Grazia Naro.

I don't think Francesco was a seaman. I've had a closer look at his occupation and I think it says Marramiere? - hoer, Agricultural worker. Another set of eyes would help. (Either occupation seems strange though, given his title?)

Francesco's occupation was a marble worker, not a seaman.
