Did my great-GF naturalize if he made a petition?

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Did my great-GF naturalize if he made a petition?

Post by aperrone »

Hi all,

I found that my great-grandfather filed a declaration of intent AND a petition to naturalize (see here: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... AZK2T-69PZ) prior to the birth of my grandfather. :(

My grandfather was the youngest in his family and was born in June 1928. It appears this application was made when my grandfather's 4 siblings were alive, but not my grandfather, in October 1925.

Does this mean my jure sanguinis path is likely over? Ugh.

Ugh, nevermind, it appears this is the order granting him citizenship (I believe) just 18 months prior to my grandfather being born.
