Need help finding death record for Rosa Groe

Post by Mattrock »

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to locate a death record for my ancestor Rosa Groe. She was married to Carlo Antonio Mazzuca (who predeceased her) and seems to have lived in Dipignano, Cosenza. She may have also lived in Badolato, Catanzaro, where her son Salvatore Mazzuca moved to and died. She was born sometime in the late 1700s and I believe she was at least living in 1842.

Thanks

I checked the death indices for both Badolato and Dipignano from 1842 through 1850, and only found one possibility. The death of Rosalia Groe on 28 December 1843 i Dipignano.
Parents are listed as deceased Nicola and deceased Arcangela.
This Rosalia is age 70, a spinner born in Dipignano.
BUT... she is the widow of Gaetano Principe.

Could Rosa have remarried after the death of Carlo Antonio Mazzuca?

Unfortunately I do not. All I know is that one child of hers born after 1809 was Maria Saveria Mazzuca in 1810 and the other was Salvatore Mazzuca in 1814, both born in Dipignano. If I had to guess there are probably more children born before civil registration began.

I am not sure. All I know is that she was alive when her son Salvatore got married in in Badolato September 1843 and Carlo Antonio was deceasesd. So it's possible, the marriage record between this Rosalia and Gaetano Principe would have to be found.

Church records can be valuable for genealogical research. If you know the parish where Rosa may have attended, contact the local church to inquire about available records.
