Marriage Record Translation help

Post by deigo1 »

Hello,

I was hoping someone could help with the translation of the marriage of Maddalena Biagini in 1869. I was able to find the marriage in the the brides commune, and also in the that of the groom. I know they are normally married in the town of the bride, but I was able to find a link to the wedding attachments in the grooms hometown, which made me wonder if it was done different here (or because it was before unification)

Montese Record (Brides commune)
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 60/wR1qn23 (#4 ... the number is written at the bottom of the prior page)

Fanano Record
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 89/w9JEyp6 (#8)
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 41/LzrezKQ (attachments)

Thank you,
D.

* Edit I meant to type Maddalena Bernardi (Biagini is her mother's maiden name)

The marriage took place in Montese.
In Fanano there is a transcription of the record of Montese, based on the extract sent by the Registrar, and, in the attachments, again the copy of the record from Montese, and a record of the request of banns, from Montese, again.+

The marriage took place on Feb 15 at 10am
Pasquale Franchi was 29, a peasant, born and residing in Frignano (hamlet of Fanano), never married, son of Pellegrino, and Camila Bernardini.
Madalena Bernardi was 22, a spinner, born ion Montespecchio, residing in Maserno, daughter of Antonio Bernardi and Lucrezia Biagini.

The record you posted from Fanano (#8) is a record of the marriage in Montese (#4) which was entered into the record when received from the official in Montese... So it is a recorded EXTRACT of the marriage
# 8 is dated 7 April 1869.

The extract of marriage in Montese #4 in 1869
Date of marriage 15 February 1869 in Montese
Groom: Pasquale Franchi, 29, peasant farmer, born and residing in Trignano [hamlet of] Comune of Fanano. unmarried, son of Pellegrino [Franchi] and of Camila Bernardoni, both residing in Trignano.
Bride: Madalena (one "d") Bernardi, 22, unmarried, spinner, born Montespecchio, residing Maserno [hamlet of] Comune of Montese, daughter of Antonio [Bernardi] and of Lucrezia Biagini, both residing in Maserno.

Oddly, Madalena's mother is not mentioned in the body of the extract, and her father is only mentioned above the beginning of the extract in the document.
They are BOTH mentioned in the Montese record #4 - which is the actual marriage.

#4 - dated 15 February 1869 in Montese is the marriage.
Same information...

Ciao, Pippo! Sorry for the duplication... :D

Thank you both for the help!
It all makes sense now, my family was from Maserno originally so all lines up they were married there.

As time progressed would the act of marriage in Montese, be documented in Fanano Part 2 of marriages? That was the other confusing part is it seemed as though the marriage in Fanano was in Part 1, but maybe this pre-dated that change.

Thanks again!

It seems to be the procedure in Fanano to just enter the extract of marriage from another town/village into Parte I. If you look through the entries for 1869, there are other marriages recorded that took place in another location.
