Death of Francesco Cutaio 1798 or 1800?

Post by NickAndreola »

Trying to get all the meat off the bone here but can't quite make it out....Something about Francesco being accuse of assault and theft involving Maria Fontozzi of Alife, Piedmont and Catarina Pistilli of Casalnuovo (likely Monterotaro)--some kinda violence happened.....something about a abolished "Straordinacia" council....and then 2 dates....?

Any help understanding this is much appreciated!

The above is from the processetti of this 1821 marriage of Domenico Cutaio to Maria Mattea Cordone. This is the Act https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 89/wOrZkRl

Francesco's death is image 84 of the processetti. Francesco's wife died 28 May 1800 (as his widow) so 1798 for his death? Her death is image 85...please look at the surname--I see Maria Giuseppa Aleia which seems to be repeated on Domenico's 1797 birth on image 82...

The marriage act uses D'Aloia for Maria Giuseppa...that IS the bride's mother's surname (high confidence there). Which surname would you use for Maria Giuseppa?

"Francesco Cutajo di Casalvecchio, imputato di aggressione e furto di denaro armata mano, in pub(blico) camino, a danno di Maria Fantozzi di Piedimonte d'Alife, e Catarina Pistilli di Casalnuovo previa violenza in pr(e)d(etta) vid(ua) (?) Fantozzi e di tentato stupro (?) in ... di Giovanna Panca seguiti nel 1798."

He was sentenced to death on the gallows on Nov 6, 1798. On May 17, 1800, it was ordered to execute the sentence and he was executed on day 24.

Notice that Maria Giuseppa died a few days later, on May 28. very sad! :(
I read "D'Aleja" in the death record, but I'd say the correct spelling is "D'Aloja", like in the marriage.

Wow!

Mille Grazie for the information Pippo! This one was a new-to-me version and google translate was giving me some nonsensical zingers

Yeah, sometimes this addiction can lead us to read about some very sad tragedies. :(
