Marie,

My Great Grandfather is Gaspare (Jasper) Farina who was born in Altavilla Milicia. His daughter (my Grandmother) is Lilian Farina, who married Francisco (Frank) Scimeca. My Great Aunt is Rose Farina. Gaspare did make it to Chicago and was laid to rest in Chicago. I believe that my Great Grandmother is Josie, who was Gaspare’s second wife. Would love to compare notes. Thanks.

Gary,

My grandfather, Gaspare Farina (1875-1928), married Giovanna Cardella (1880-1955) in Chicago in 1898. They had ten children, my beloved aunts and uncles. Among their children were Josephine Farina (1899-1983) and Rose Farina (1916-1992). They did not have a daughter named Lilian.

I have Scimeca in my family tree from Altavilla Milicia. A Rose Scimeca married Salvatore Farina around 1860. Salvatore was the brother of my great-grandfather, Giovanni Farina (1845-1910).

I hope this makes sense. It seems we may be distant cousins, but I don't believe your Gaspare Farina is the same as mine.

Best regards,
Marie
