Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me translate my great grandmother's birth record (Record #199 on the attachment). I don't have much experience with genealogical documents, and any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Welcome to the forum!
Birth No 199 – Rosa Maria Di Giura
Registered in Melfi on 29 April 1888
Appearing was Michele De Giura, 45 yo Scarpellino (stonecutter), living in this town, who reported that at 2.30 pm on 25 of the current month (25 April 1888) in the house via Bagno, No 61, from Maria Michela Mongelle/i, his wife, a cucitrice (seamstress), living with him, was born a baby of female gender, who he presented to me (the official) and gave the name of Rosa Maria.
The other names at the base of the record are just the witnesses to the registration proceedings who didn’t sign the document as they were both illiterate.
In the left margin there is an annotation there which I can barely read but which I understand to be a correction to the father’s name, made on 26 March 1902. It should read Michelangelo Di Giura in place of Michele Di Giura
The mother’s surname looks to be spelt either Mongelli or Mongelle in the town.
