Thank you

Birth No 101: Giuseppe Compare son of Antonio
Registered in Ceppaloni on 26 November 1876

Appearing was Antonio Compare, 24 yo, contadino (peasant/farmer), living in Ceppaloni, who reported that at 4.35 pm on 24 of the current month (ie 24 November 1876) in the house in Ceppaloni, from his wife Carmina Grasso, daughter of the deceased Gennaro, 26 yo, contadina, living with him, and from himself the declarant, was born a baby of male sex who he presented to me (the official) and gave the name of Giuseppe. The other names mentioned there are just those witnessing the registration.

Very happy to help. I've located one more name for you that you may not have - Giuseppe's paternal grandfather's name was also Giuseppe, which basically lines up with Italian naming practice. I decided to look for Giuseppe's syblings birth records hoping that Antonio's father's name would be noted on them, and his name was noted on two of them. I noticed that you had given the birth years of Giuseppe's syblings on another thread and in case you don't have the actual birth records here they are:

(1875: There was no Anna Maria born in Ceppaloni. Checked 1875 Index: 78 of 80 https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 84/04BQ4rW
Checked 1874 as well.)

1878 Birth No 97: Pelligrino Compare son of Antonio Compare, 28 yo, contadino, living Ceppaloni and of his wife Carmina Grasso, daughter of deceased Gennaro, 28 yo, contadina. They were living via Molini, no number given. Pelligrino born 10.15 pm, 23 November 1878

1881 Birth No 31: Giovanni Compare son of Antonio and Carmina Grasso. Giovanni born Ceppaloni 5.10 am 5 May 1881: https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 44/LNVzGgy Page 23 of 96

1883 Birth No 87: Errichetta Compare daughter of Antonio (who was the son of the “deceased Giuseppe”) and his wife Carmina Grasso. (the daughter of the deceased Gennaro). Errichetta was born in Ceppaloni at 2.10 am on 14 September 1883.

1886 Birth No 37: Alfredo Compare son of Antonio Comprare (son of "deceased Giuseppe") and of Carmina Grasso, (daughter of deceased Gennaro). Alfredo was born 8.30 pm on 25 February 1886 in via Raio.

You did indeed. Here it is:

Birth No 26 – Anna Maria Compare, daughter of Mario Antonio
Registered Montesarchio on 21 February 1875

Annotation: On 29 October 1905 in Montesarchio, Annamaria Compare married with Bernardo Pasquale

Appearing was Mario Antonio Compare, 25 yo, contadino, living Montesarchio, who reported that at 8.10 pm on 20 of the current month (ie 20 February 1875), in the house in via Conti, No 6, from Carmina Grasso, daughter of deceased Gennaro, 25 yo, contadina, his wife, living with him, was born a baby of female sex, who he presented to the official, and gave the name of Anna Maria.

For your information, (Mario) Antonio Compare was illiterate - possibly why he misreported their ages when he registered the births of their children.

This all makes sense because I was unable to locate a birth record for Giuseppe in Ceppaloni, nor a birth record for Carmina in Chianchetelle, in fact I saw no evidence from all the indices that I looked through of the name Compare in Ceppaloni, nor the name Grasso in Chianchetelle. (I looked out for both names in both towns.) It’s always helpful to let us know when you are unsure of any information you supply us with. (Finding their marriage record will help determine both their respective birth towns, as would finding their respective death records. Try Montesarchio for the marriage record if they are online. (The marriage generally took place in bride's birth town, however the "pubblication" was generally posted in both bride/groom birth towns.) Also, looking for the 1905 marriage record mentioned on this birth record will help establish whether Carmina and Antonio are still living etc) Just want to mention also that I notice that you are placing “repeat” requests within “Locations in Italy” forum and “Italian Genealogy” forum. You don’t need to do this. It’s not helpful and can result in unnecessary duplication of efforts. If you are not sure which forum to place a request just place it in “Italian Genealogy” forum. Thanks. :)

Following on from previous post here.

“Possible” 1850 Birth No 77 – Mario, Antonio, Felice Compare

Registered Montesarchio 10 June 1850, born the same day.

Parents Giuseppe Compare, 43 yo, contadino and Anna Izzo, 40 yo.

Unfortunately it doesn’t include a marriage annotation. It is a strong possibility given Antonio and Carmina’s first two children were named Anna and Giuseppe but I’d be looking further each side of 1850 births to be sure.

Sorry, the following should've read:

"This all makes sense because I was unable to locate a birth record for Antonio in Ceppaloni, nor a birth record for Carmina in Chianchetelle, in fact I saw no evidence from all the indices that I looked through of the name Compare in Ceppaloni, nor the name Grasso in Chianchetelle. I’m 99% sure this is your family. I just wish there was a marriage annotation on each of the records. I’ve looked through indices five years either side of 1850 and didn’t see any other Carmina Grasso or Antonio Compare. There were syblings though but I’ll leave that to you to you to explore further as I need to get to a weekly commitment shortly. Let me know if you would like the two birth records I've located translated.
