Constantinople or Messina marriage cert

Hello Forum!

I would really appreciate your help in understanding this entry from the 1881 civil marriage records of Messina. I would like to know if this marriage extract from 1849 happened in Messina and a copy of it was requested from Constantinople, or if the marriage occurred in Constantinople in 1849 and then it was reported to Messina 32 years later. Also, is there any indication of the reason why it was requested/reported?

The marriage was in Constantinople in 1849 (there was an Italian community).
Then a certificate (copy of the register) was made in 1872.
In 1880 it was presented to the consulate of Italy to be sent to Messina, the town of the husband.

I may suppose that the family was not registered at the consulate
(or the consulate for some reason omitted to send the document before to Italy). Probably in 1880 the family came back to Italy and needed to have the marriage registered in Italy.

Thank you Mmgno and Cedrone. This was very helpful in allowing me to decipher two more similar records. Cedrone, I agree it's possible the family was not registered in the town or that they were returning to Italy for some reason. The two other similar records I've seen are a birth certificate for the couple's son, and a marriage certificate for the son as well. The birth certificate was received by the Constantinople and Roman consulates together with the previous marriage document I inquired about, on the same days, 26 October 1880, and 31 March 1881 respectfully. They were both entered into the registers in Messina in 1881, but 7 months apart.

The marriage of the son took place in June 1883, was received at the consulate in Constantinople in 1883, Rome in 1884, and entered into the Messina register in 1885. Perhaps these other two documents would help in explaining why the copies of the documents were sent to Messina, but I can't find the reason. I'll include a link to the other two documents and attach the marriage act as well if you are interested in taking a look. I'll reply with another message since I can't attach so many docs in this one message. Thank you again for your help!

I'll look at the new documents.
If there was a son, so the family not even came back to Italy, probably simply registered at the consulate only in 1880 and the consulate correctly sent the documents to the town of Messina, because was the place of origin of the family.
It is written in the marriage act you posted first.

I'm sure there is no definitive answer as to the reason why the documents were sent back. But I agree that simply registering at the consulate is a likely explanation. If you're able to find anything more in the other documents , I appreciate anything new that you can share. Thank you.
