Francisco Alfredi POSCA born c1834 Lezzeno, Como Lombardia

I am researching this gentleman who by 1861 was living in Liverpool, Lancashire England, occupation Looking Glass Maker. I have a possible arrival of him on 4th May 1846 in Dover (England Alien Arrivals) as an Apprentice to a Geovanni Dotti.

I would like to establish his actual birth/baptism details and get some documentary evidence of this.

Can anyone help please?

Unfortunately online records for Lezzeno only start after 1866.

You could try to contact the parish or the Diocesi of Como to make a request for Francesco Alfredo Posca baptism record.
Although there are other churches in Lezzeno this should be the right parrocchia.

The parish priest should be Don Oreste Salice.

Also, could you please post Francesco’s arrival in Dover?

The request may be made directly to the parish, if you need to ask citizenship must be legalized by the diocese, otherwise you may ask a copy of the register and a certificate by e-mail (it may be difficult to get replies from the parishes).

Re his year of birth. This comes from the English census for 1861 & 1871. Given as 27 in 1861 and 38 in 1871

The parish have responded "I checked the baptismal register of the parish in the years 1830-1839 without finding confirmation of the baptism of Francisco Alfredi Posca"

There has now been a thought that instead of Lezzeno it might be Palanzo, a little further north.
