Meggiolaro & Mecenero

Post by Moldus »

Greetings!, Im looking for the comune where some of my italian ancestors came from. I know from oral family history that they were from Vicenza city or some town nearby within Veneto region.
Any record would be of great help! (birth, baptism, or marriage). Following is what i Know in case it helps:

- Giuseppe Meggiolaro and Luigia (not 100% sure if this is the correct name or some variant) Mecenero married and had at least 3 daughters: Monica (birth around 1879-1880), Rosa (birth around 1873), and Ernesta (not 100% sure of this name).
- Giuseppe was second husband of Luigia. Luigia had a son from an unknown previous marriage with someone with surname Ducato.
- Giuseppe died in Italy (unknown date), whereas Luigia, the son, and their three daughters moved and died in Artigas Uruguay after 1900 (unknown dates).
- Both Monica and Rosa married and had several sons and daughters in Artigas, Uruguay.

I have searched in many family sites (no luck) as well as wrote to the Vicenza comune to ask for the records with negative results. I also did search a lot within Antenati portal but without knowing the exact comune finding a record is similar to find a needle in a haystack.

Any feedback would be of great help and very much appreciated.

You need to start with the last record you are in Uruguay. A ship manifest may be available in Ellis island.org. Although they probably have reckoning family search.org for Uruguay.
